The LA Clippers’ frontcourt
The other place the Clippers got exposed in the playoffs was in the frontcourt and more specifically at the center and power forward positions. As mentioned before, Montrezl Harrell is an unrestricted free agent and will be looking to cash in for a big payday after winning the Sixth Man of the Year award. As good as Harrell was at times he’s 6-foot-8 and that lack of height in the frontcourt of the Clippers got exposed against Denver in the second round of the playoffs and also in the first round against Dallas until Kristaps Porzingis was injured and missed the better part of that series.
Another one of Kawhi’s former teammates from Toronto, Serge Ibaka could be the remedy for the Clippers frontcourt as a 7-foot rim protector. Ibaka, who just turned 31 may not be the defender he was just a couple of years ago but can still get the job done and would give the Clippers the size they lacked during the playoffs. This move is far more likely a possibility than most of the others above outside of the Clippers possibly signing Goran Dragic.
However this offseason unfolds for the Clippers, one thing is for sure, they are in desperate need of some rejuvenation in the form of a roster shakeup. That looks and feels pretty evident after another disappointing second-round playoff exit.
