LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers are a favorite once again

One year after an injury-plagued season, LeBron James has delivered on the expectation from him when he signed with Los Angeles a little more than a year ago. The Los Angeles Lakers have clinch their first NBA Finals appearance in a decade. LeBron has now made the NBA Finals nine times in the last 10 years.

LeBron will also become just the fourth player in NBA history to play in 10 different NBA Finals. When the Lakers take the floor next week to begin the 2020 NBA Finals, LeBron will have the opportunity to win his fourth championship. It will also come as a favorite, which he has only been twice in his career before – he’s 1-1 in such situations.

LeBron and the Lakers disposed of the Denver Nuggets in Game 5, thanks to a huge performance – on both ends of the floor. LeBron finished with 38 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists in closing the Nuggets. He also helped quell the red-hot Jamal Murray. Anthony Davis, LeBron’s running mate, added 27 points in the series-clinching victory.

Now, LeBron James and the Lakers will turn their attention to the Eastern Conference where they await their NBA Finals opponent.

Whether it’s the Miami Heat or Boston Celtics, LeBron James and the Lakers are expected to be a favorite in the NBA Finals for the first time in a very long time. The Lakers haven’t been a favorite in the NBA Finals since the 2010 season when they beat the Celtics. LeBron hasn’t been a favorite in the NBA Finals since 2013 when the Heat beat the San Antonio Spurs in an epic 7-game series.

At 35 years old, LeBron James is still playing at a high level. He’s expected to be the best player on the floor in the NBA Finals and it will be considered a huge upset should the Lakers not take home the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

It may have taken a year, but LeBron James has now taken three different franchises to the NBA Finals. Should he be able to finish off whichever team emerges from the Eastern Conference, he will have won a championship with three different franchises too.

As LeBron James continues on this recent postseason tear, it should be noted that we’re watching historic feats. You may not believe that LeBron is the greatest basketball player ever, but there’s no question that what we’re watching from him is quite historic. Embrace what we’re watching from LeBron. It won’t last forever.
