NBA Mock Draft 10.0: Killian Hayes rises; Warriors take a gamble on LaMelo Ball
9. Washington Wizards – Obi Toppin, F, Dayton
With the 9th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, the Washington Wizards should focus on selecting the best player available. With the way this draft has fallen, there’s a no-brainer prospect still on the board for the Wizards – Obi Toppin. With John Wall and Bradley Beal coming back next season, adding an NBA-ready prospect like Toppin would be a nice pickup.
Toppin is the oldest prospect (22 years old) projected to be selected in the top 10 but is coming off an extremely productive sophomore season. Toppin averaged 20 points, eight rebounds, and two assists per game on 63 percent shooting from the field and 39 percent shooting from 3-point range.
Toppin would come in and be ready to play almost immediately. He’s an athletic forward that can stretch the defense and is one of the best finishers in this draft. He needs to prove that he can be consistent on the defensive end but if he can, there’s no question he can be a good player for a very long time for the Wizards.
