The Denver Nuggets are primed for contention in 2021
The NBA has two new, young superstars in their league. Their names are Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. Before the NBA’s restart bubble in Orlando, these two were considered really good for their age and budding stars. Following this playoff run from the Denver Nuggets, there is no question that these two are full-fledged superstars in the league.
Not only did they come back from one improbable series down 3-1, but the Nuggets also did it a nearly impossible second time. Not only did they do it two times in a single postseason (which has never been done before), but they upset the LA Clippers who were league favorites all year. Granted the Clippers were one of the greatest playoff collapses of our time, Jokic and Murray proved that they belong in the upper echelon of teams in the Western Conference.
The Nuggets found themselves in the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2009 this season and coincidentally played the Los Angeles Lakers. The Nuggets, however, fell in five games to LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and company. The Lakers showed the Nuggets that there is still another level they have to climb before being true contenders.
We explore three main takeaways from the Denver Nuggets in a breakout season.
