3 takeaways from the Los Angeles Lakers’ dominating Game 1 victory in the NBA Finals

The Miami Heat got off to a great start, building an early 13-point lead midway through the first quarter. However, the Los Angeles Lakers responded before the period even ended, taking a narrow 31-28 lead into the second quarter and they never looked back.

Everything completely fell apart for the Heat in the second quarter, the Lakers took a 17-point lead (65-48) into the half. To make matters worse, both Jimmy Butler (ankle) and Goran Dragic suffered injuries late in the first half.

Coming out of intermission the tide did not turn for Miami. In fact, LA swept the Heat far out to sea. The Lakers executed with precise precision dropping 28 third-quarter points while holding the Heat to an abysmal 19 points.

Los Angeles relaxed a little in the final frame allowing the Heat to make the final score 116-98, which seemed much closer than what the contest was. Erik Spoelstra and the Heat must get back to the drawing board and regroup if they hope to even the series up in Game 2. Let’s take a look at three takeaways from Game 1.
