The Detroit Pistons acquire Buddy Hield

In an attempt to become an Eastern Conference contender without hitting a hard reset and having to blow it all up (mostly because they’d have a hard time in trading Blake Griffin), don’t be surprised if the Detroit Pistons emerged as a team that could be a possible landing spot for a disgruntled guard such as Buddy Hield.

Hield is due almost $90 million over the next four years, but is also just 27 years old and might still have his best football still in front of him. Even after a “down” season in 2019-20, Hield still managed to average 19 points, five rebounds, and three assists on 43 percent shooting from the field and 39 percent shooting from 3-point range.

If the Pistons believe that they could unlock Hield’s potential and that he could be a breakout candidate in 2021 in a new system and with a fresh start, he could be in play for the Pistons.

A deal would almost have to involve some sort of pick swap – the Pistons own the 7th pick and the Kings pick at No. 12 – and some cap gymnastics, but it could happen. How far could a Buddy Hield, Blake Griffin (shouts to Oklahoma) duo take them in the Eastern Conference?
