New York Knicks: 3 realistic trade packages that could revitalize the franchise
The New York Knicks take a shot on Victor Oladipo
With the deep dislike between the New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers, it likely would cost a premium for the Knicks to land Victor Oladipo. The good news for the Knicks, they are playing with house money.
The only real cost long-term for the Knicks will be Kevin Knox and with respect to Knox, he has nowhere near lived up to the billing. The Knicks would be parting with the Clippers pick this year, the Mavericks pick next year, and expiring contracts in Taj Gibson and Elfrid Payton.
They keep all of their picks and don’t have over a single major asset to the Pacers. The Pacers get picks and they get players who add depth to their team. As far as the Pacers are concerned, regaining Oladipo after Sabonis grabbed the reins of the team was them playing with house money also.
Now they get to grab future assets for a player who wants out and who they won’t overpay. This would be considered a win-win for both franchises. A sense that they both one-upped each other should allow for the trade to go ahead.
Victor Oladipo is coming back from a series of injuries which has plagued his all-star caliber play. Without giving up major assets, the Knicks would be willing to take a chance on Oladipo and that he can regain the form that made him a star. If Oladipo can find his form once again, the Knicks will have two of the best guard defenders on one roster.
