The New York Knicks’ new starting 5

  • C Mitchell Robinson
  • PF Kyle Kuzma
  • SF RJ Barrett
  • SG Victor Oladipo
  • PG Jrue Holiday

This completely transforms the New York Knicks roster from a lottery team with little to no identity to a team that should be playing playoff basketball next year. MSG is made for playoff basketball.

The Knicks front office needs to be bold and daring and put coach Thibs in the best position to win. Even if Thibs isn’t there guy going forward, they will have at least assembled a roster that is capable of being taken over by any head coach and they can make it work.

With Oladipo and Holiday, you get floor spacing, capable 3-point shooting, and great defense. You get a guard pairing who might each be able to average 20 points per game who can switch positions and defend both well.

You have Danny Green coming off the bench who alongside Frank Ntilikina provides extremely solid defense. You get a potential all-star in Kyle Kuzma who spaces the floor better than Julius Randle and allows for Mitchell Robinson to come into his own offensively in the paint without the threat of Randle inside.

You have the 13th overall pick to strengthen the roster with someone like Vernon Carey Jr. from Duke or Aaron Nesmith from Vanderbilt who can add more depth to the roster and you have a very happy Tom Thibadeau who has a team who fits exactly the type of basketball he wants to play and who can excel in his defensive system whilst being able to score and defend.

This puts the New York Knicks in a strong position moving forward and puts them in the right direction towards being a playoff team once again.
