4 big questions for the Philadelphia 76ers and new head coach Doc Rivers

The Philadelphia 76ers officially has a new leader and voice in the locker room. After electing to move on from Brett Brown after seven seasons, the Sixers announced that they had reached a five-year deal with Doc Rivers to become the team’s new head coach.

Similarly to the Sixers, the LA Clippers also elected to part ways with their head coach (Doc Rivers) after a disappointing end in the postseason. But LA’s loss is Philly’s gain. The Sixers are hoping that Rivers will be able to help rejuvenize the Sixers and bring hope to a franchise that felt was a piece away from being a true championship contender in the Eastern Conference.

After falling one game short of the Eastern Conference Finals last season, the hope was that the Sixers would be able to take the next step in 2019-20. That didn’t happen and the team was unfortunately swept out of the first round of the playoffs at the hands of the Boston Celtics.

With Doc Rivers taking over as the team’s new head coach, we explore four big questions that the new leadership must answer heading into the 2021 NBA season.
