Bradley Beal

The Golden State Warriors are already one of the great shooting teams in NBA history. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson together have redefined the league in the short time they have been around. Teams now actively copy the model set by the Warriors of combining defense and 3-point shooting in a perfect symphony.

Adding Bradley Beal a player who averaged 30 points, 6.4 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game would be borderline unfair. If you have Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Bradley Beal all on the floor at one time, the Warriors are going to go Supernova from the 3-point line. While Bradley Beal is not Kevin Durant, we can expect a similar outcome in terms of points scored.

Beal is the perfect second or third star for any team. He is capable of deferring (when John Wall is playing), he can play as a secondary playmaker (having shown that this season with his 6.4 assists per game) and Beal is in the prime of his career. at 27 years old.

Beal fits exactly with what the Warriors want to do and he automatically jumps into a championship window with the Warriors. A win for the Warriors and a win for Bradley Beal. The Washington Wizards are going to require a sizeable prize for giving up their best asset.

While it would be understandable for the Wizards to want a superstar in return for Beal, teams would rather pair Beal with their current star than trade a star.

They might get a trade suitor like the Clippers who might be willing to send Paul George in the other direction but the best bet for the Wizards is to settle for a draft picks and some decent pieces. The Warriors with the second overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft offer the Wizards a potential future star. Not to mention the Wizards also have the ninth pick in the upcoming draft giving them two top 10  selections.

These picks can prepare the Wizards for life after Bradley Beal and more than likely, life after John Wall. Drafting someone like LaMelo Ball second overall and Devin Vassell ninth would give the Wizards one of the more talented young cores in the entire NBA and would give them a decent launchpad for the future.

  • C Thomas Bryant
  • PF Davis Bertans
  • SF Rui Hachimura
  • SG Devin Vassell (9th Overall pick)
  • PG LaMelo Ball (2nd Overall pick

This would give the Wizards a monstrous starting 5.

  • Thomas Bryant 6-foot-10
  • Davis Bertans 6-foot-10
  • Rui Hachimura 6-foot-8
  • Devin Vassell 6-foot-7/Andrew Wiggins 6-foot-7
  • LaMelo Ball 6-foot-8/John Wall 6-foot-4

A team filled with length, potential, and 3-point shooting seems like a really strong basis for the Wizards to rebuild the franchise.

Not to mention they would have the likes of John Wall and Andrew Wiggins on the roster who can allow the young players to slowly get themselves ready to take over, rather than throwing them into the deep end.

They would also have future picks that they can use as trade assets to get out from underneath John Wall’s contract. This puts the Wizards in a strong position moving forward and allows for them to potentially tank next season and pick up another top-level talent.
