A win-now move to acquire Chris Paul

You might be sitting there and say that the No. 1 overall pick is much more valuable than a 35-year-old Chris Paul – and you’d be absolutely right. However, if the Wolves could get a couple more assets in addition to Paul, this is a deal that they should at the very least entertain.

Perhaps they could get another young player from the Oklahoma City Thunder and a pick or two (perhaps one that OKC acquired from Houston last summer) to even out this trade. Plus, Paul could do wonders for both D’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns.

While I would have concerns about Paul’s potential fit with Towns, after what he did with a much-less talented Thunder roster you can’t help be excited about his possible influence on a team with two players as talented as Towns and Russell.

The big question would revolve around whether the Wolves would feel they’re been compensated enough for the No. 1 overall pick. Paul is not enough and I’m not sure if the Thunder would agree with that.

The Minnesota Timberwolves will have plenty of options at their disposal heading into the 2020 NBA Draft (and maybe they keep the pick), but they should absolutely explore the possibility of trading it.
