9. Miami Heat
The Miami Heat overachieved into an NBA Finals berth this season, hitting their stride at the right time within the NBA bubble. Now with their squad starting at ground zero, their upper management has let it be clear they’re going all-in on Giannis Antetokounmpo for the 2021 season.
As of now, their current roster will be a competitive squad in a healthier Eastern Conference playing field, but their lack of size and perimeter shot creators could severely hurt them in the playoffs. Jimmy Butler isn’t getting any younger, but in his early 30s, he’s an all-star talent that can play both guard spots very well due to knowing his role and maximizing his shot opportunities.
Bam Adebayo took the next step last season off of being assertive and confident with his athleticism. Becoming a floor spacer could keep opponents honest when guarding the Heat’s small guard lineup. However, for the Heat to emerge, Duncan Robinson and Tyler
Herro has to continue ascending as consistent offensive firepower while being long-range shooters.
Their team defensive grit and head coaching acumen from Erik Spoelstra will make the Heat a title contender next season. Their lack of multiple game-breaking talents against the league’s elite could hurt them in the long run.
