4 options the Milwaukee Bucks must consider heading into the offseason

With Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s contract expiring at the end of the 2020-21 season, the Milwaukee Bucks have important decisions pending that will affect their future. This upcoming pivotal season could very well determine whether the two-time MVP will remain with the team or if he decides to join another team or join forces with another superstar player in his quest for a championship.

There is no doubt that Antetokounmpo wants to win as his desire was on full display during the playoffs, but it will ultimately be up to the organization to make sure they supplement the roster with players who can complement his skill set. The past two seasons for the Bucks have been successful despite the playoff failures as the Bucks compiled the best record in the regular season the past two years but it hasn’t translated to the postseason.

This team had high hopes and expectations but have miserably failed by not reaching their potential as they should have at least accomplished nothing less of an appearance in the NBA Finals. The playoff defeat to the Miami Heat raised plenty of questions concerning the team’s future. It’s not even the fact that they lost that series but how they lost as they struggled and were dominated even before Antetokounmpo’s injury.

They were on the verge of getting swept and had to fight and scrap to earn their lone victory in the series. The Bucks have no one outside of Antetokounmpo who can carry the team. Don’t get me wrong, Khris Middleton is an NBA all-star and rightfully so but he isn’t built to lead or carry a team and is better suited to be a second or third option at best.

It seems the Bucks slightly overpaid for Middleton and could have explored other options in free agency. It’s imperative that this Buck’s team vastly improves or face the reality of losing their best player. There are several options the Bucks have moving forward when it comes to Antetokounmpo.
