Milwaukee Bucks’ option No. 2: Offer Giannis a max deal now rather than later

If the Bucks allow Antetokounmpo to reach free agency, it would be a mistake they will regret for years to come. The Bucks front office has to act now in order to show Antetokounmpo that they are serious about winning and that they are willing to use every asset and resource they have available in order to deliver a championship team in Milwaukee.

Despite what his agent or outside sources are whispering in his ear, the organization has to take initiative in trying to get him to sign a long-term deal before the season begins. If Antetokounmpo refuses to sign an offer that is made before his pending free agency, then the Bucks front office can take solace in the fact that they attempted to secure the future of the franchise and can at least save face with the fans knowing an offer was on the table.

The Bucks have a slight advantage when it comes to negotiating because they can offer Antetokounmpo the most money since they are the team that originally drafted him but it is yet to be known whether money plays a major factor whenever contractual discussions occur.

If he signs, then that’s one less thing for the Bucks front office to worry about. If he doesn’t sign, then they have to consider other options and do what’s best for the franchise moving forward.
