Milwaukee Bucks’ option No. 4: Do the unthinkable and trade Antetokounmpo
Many critics will wonder how any general manager in their right mind could possibly consider trading the reigning two-time MVP or any player of his caliber for that matter, but the Bucks have to play it safe instead of being sorry later on.
If the Bucks fail to sign Antetokounmpo to an extension before the trade deadline and it looks as if the team isn’t playing up to expectations, then it would be wise for them to pull the trigger on a blockbuster deal.
The last thing the Bucks need is to lose Antetokounmpo in free agency and have nothing to show for losing him. Anything less of an NBA Finals appearance would be considered a failure, and if the season unfolds unexpectedly and it appears as if the Bucks don’t have what it takes to reach their desired goal, then they should shop Antetokounmpo to see what they can get in a trade.
Many general managers would be willing to pay a king’s ransom for him and it would ease the pain of seeing him leave via trade than allowing him to walk away in free agency and gain nothing at all.
