1. Minnesota Timberwolves – James Wiseman, C, Memphis

With the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves select James Wiseman out of Memphis. While there is still a good chance that the Wolves select Anthony Edwards, in the event that they are just not sold on him as a prospect at the top of this draft, James Wiseman could emerge as a potential fit for the team.

Karl-Anthony Towns needs a frontcourt partner that will be able to be effective on both ends of the floor. Wiseman could be that player for the Wolves. He still a very he still very much a work in progress on the offensive end, but has the size and ability to be a good two-way player in the NBA.

The big question for this pick will come down to whether Wiseman will be viewed as an ideal fit next two Towns. The good thing is that Wiseman will likely need a year or two to develop as a starting center in the NBA. If he does pan out, there’s no question that he has the potential to be a future superstar. Next to Towns, Wiseman could end up being the best player to emerge from this draft.
