NBA Draft Rumors: Atlanta Hawks looking to move the No. 6 pick
NBA Draft Rumors: Atlanta Hawks looking to make a move out of the top 10
Less than a month away from the 2020 NBA Draft, and we still don’t have a great sense of what we’re going to be in for on November 18. However, that adds to the intrigue to the draft. And what else could we expect for 2020?
We could see trades, surprise picks, plenty of reaches and steals, more than normal due to a shortened pre-draft process and the lack of a true collegiate postseason. Speaking on trades, there’s already one team that has made it clear that they’re looking to move out of the top 10.
According to a report from The Ringer, the Atlanta Hawks will be one of the teams looking to move their first round pick in an attempt to land a star that could help them make a significant move up the standings in the Eastern Conference.

The Hawks own the sixth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
"[via The Ringer]The Hawks are shopping their first-round pick and intend to push for the playoffs, according to multiple league sources."
It’s not quite clear who they could target with their sixth pick and/or if Atlanta would be willing to attach more assets to any package, but it could provide for some interesting theater in the days leading up to the 2020 NBA Draft.
The Hawks are coming off quite a disappointing season in which they were not invited to the NBA’s restart bubble after finishing 14th (20-47) at the time of the NBA’s hiatus. Loaded with young talent, led by the likes of Trae Young and John Collins, an established veteran star could be exactly what the Hawks need to take the next step in the East.
I’m not sure anyone believed the Atlanta Hawks were as bad as their 14th place finish in the Eastern Conference last season, but the bigger questions revolves around whether or not this team is good enough to make a legitimate run at the playoffs in 2021.
