NBA Rumors: If Victor Oladipo leaves Indiana, it might be for Miami
Entering the 2020 offseason, there might not be a star more talked about (in terms of possibly leaving his current team) than Victor Oladipo. In fact, when we look back at this offseason, there’s a good chance that these next few weeks (before the start of the 2020-21 season) could be remembered as the offseason of Oladipo.
There are already whispers that he may want out of Indiana and considering that he’s an expiring contract after this upcoming season, it might be the perfect time for a contending team in search of a final piece to poach the former all-star.
Oladipo is coming off a season in which he only played 19 games (including the NBA restart) after rehabbing from his quad injury. He averaged 15 points, four rebounds, and three assists on 39 percent shooting from the field and 32 percent shooting from 3-point range.

His explosiveness wasn’t quite there yet, but he had flashes of his old self throughout his return. Still, Oladipo didn’t play as well as many expected him to. So much so that it could leave enough doubt in the minds of the Indiana Pacers where they may not offer him the max extension that he’ll be seeking this offseason.
In turn, that could lead to Indiana possibly placing him on the trade block and seeking a trade before they have the opportunity to lose him for nothing next summer when he becomes a free agent.
Interestingly enough, if the Pacers and Oladipo aren’t able to agree to an extension, it’s being reported that the Miami Heat would be Oladipo’s No. 1 destination. Oladipo has already been linked to the Heat before and this really doesn’t come as much of a surprise.
The big question, of course, is whether the Heat would be interested in Oladipdo (at the price that it would cost them, likely a max deal). Much of that could hinge on their chances of landing Giannis Antetokounmpo during the summer of 2021, but Oladipo could emerge as a backup option if Giannis re-signs with the Milwaukee Bucks or if he inks with another team.
The future is looking bright for both the Miami Heat and Victor Oladipo. The question remains if their future will end up crossing paths.
