Philadelphia 76ers set to hire Daryl Morey
Just a couple of weeks after the Houston Rockets and Daryl Morey elected to mutually part ways, it appears that Morey has found a new job in the NBA. According to ESPN, Morey is expected to be hired by the Philadelphia 76ers to run its basketball operations.
"Former Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey is finalizing a deal to become the Philadelphia 76ers’ new president of basketball operations, sources told ESPN.A formal announcement is expected as soon as this week, sources said."

Morey spent more than a decade with the Rockets, in which he helped them make the playoffs eight years in a row. Under Morey, the Rockets made the Western Conference Finals twice, losing to the Golden State Warriors both times.
With the Sixers, Morey will have plenty of room to work with. The Sixers have one of the most talented rosters in the Eastern Conference, led by the East’s most dynamic duo in Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.
Even though the Sixers have grossly underachieved over the last two seasons, this is a team that is on the verge of something special. Whether Morey has the ability to press the right buttons and make the right moves remains to be seen, but he’ll have a great opportunity to be back in the title picture sooner rather than later.
It’ll be interesting to see if there are any moves Morey makes right away. If there’s one glaring issue that this team has (apart from their possible chemistry issues), it’s the lack of shooting.
Philadelphia wasn’t that terrible shooting, but simply didn’t take enough of them – they were in the bottom third in the league in both 3-point attempts and makes per game. Bringing in a veteran shooter could make a huge difference for this roster.
The Philadelphia 76ers improved by hiring Daryl Morey (assuming this gets done). Expect the Sixers to emerge as one of the more aggressive teams during the offseason. Buckle up, we could see plenty of moves when the transaction window for 2020-21 opens.
