Sacramento Kings draft target: Aaron Nesmith, G, Vanderbilt

Many mock drafts have Aaron Nesmith slipping to the Kings at 12, but I would not be surprised to see him taken earlier. Not only is he by far the best shooter in the draft, but his size and athleticism are not of your typical 3-point specialist. Think Duncan Robinson but with hops and defense…exactly.

Nesmith has shown the ability to not only shoot the lights out but can also dribble into contact and finish at the rim and not to mention his classy midrange game. Standing at 6-foot-6 with a 6-foot-9 wingspan, Nesmith can competently play both shooting guard and small forward which is essential for the modern-day wing.

He tallied a sensational 23 points per game shooting over 52 percent from behind the arc in his final season at Vanderbilt, those are better numbers than Buddy Hield and look how dangerous he has been for the Kings.

Considering the likelihood of Bogdan Bogdanovic being lured away in the offseason, Nesmith could fill this void from the outset. While his playmaking is still a work in progress, his playstyle is near-perfectly suited to play alongside De’Aaron Fox. Just think about that trio, Buddy and Nesmith drawing the defense with their lights out shooting, leaving Fox open to slash all day long.
