Predicting the 5 NBA Christmas Day games for 2020-21

It’s now officially official. The NBA and NBA Players Association voted on Thursday night to approve a December 22 start to the 2020-21 season. The new campaign will include 72 games and will hopefully include the return of fans into arenas (which will be decided regionally).

Even though details still need to be sorted out and while there may be concerns from a few players that starting the season in December may seem a little premature, as a basketball I can’t help but be excited for Christmas basketball returning (it was in doubt for a while). It’s become a staple around the holiday season and will once again in 2020.

That excitement got me thinking – what sort of matchups could await us on Christmas Day? The Los Angeles Lakers will certainly have a presence and you’d expect the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and LA Clippers (teams that have continually played on Christmas) to be involved too.

Here are the five of the potentially best matchups that the NBA could put together for many to come together to watch on Christmas Day.
