A matchup between the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics to open the Christmas Day slate would be a huge bang to the new season for the NBA. This would be a star-studded matchup, led by the (likely) new-look Sixers. With Doc Rivers and Daryl Morey leading the way, there’s at least a chance that they make a deal during the offseason.

Still, you’d expect that Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons would still be leading the way for the Sixers. On the other end, the Celtics would be high off of an Eastern Conference Finals run led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. You’d expect those two to make another jump in their development next season.

Kemba Walker will be healthy and perhaps they add another piece during the offseason (they are equipped with three first-round draft picks). It doesn’t get much better than this Sixers-Celtics rivalry, and throwing in Doc Rivers into the fold makes it that much more interesting.
