NBA Mock Draft: The Boston Celtics trade up and there’s a new No. 1 overall draft pick

Less than two weeks away from the 2020 NBA Draft, there is still plenty to be settled. There’s still no unanimous No. 1 overall pick and there’s a chance we could see a number of trades. Heading into somewhat of an unknown couple of weeks, in our new NBA Mock Draft there’s a new No. 1 overall pick and there’s a big trade that sees the Boston Celtics jump up to No. 6 and the Atlanta Hawks snag a veteran star to help them make a push towards the postseason in 2021.

1. Minnesota Timberwolves – Deni Avdija, F, Maccabi Tel Aviv

If you believe the reports that the Minnesota Timberwolves still aren’t sold on one prospect to be selected No. 1 overall in the 2020 NBA draft, that means there’s room for a potential surprise at the top of the draft.

If that is indeed true, that will open the door for a potential surprise at the top of the draft come November 18. In this mock, that will be the case. With the No. 1 overall pick, the Wolves select Deni Avdija, a versatile forward out of Israel.

While this may come as a surprise to many, there’s no question that Avdija has one of the highest ceilings in this draft. He might still be somewhat of an unknown to the most casual of basketball fans, but could very well end up being the best player in the draft.

The Wolves would get a dynamic wing that can play all over the floor, can score and distribute at an above-average level, and a player that could be an integral part of this team’s future.
