Wolves push more chips in, Celtics retool
The Gordon Hayward era in Boston has been a star-crossed one since the first quarter of his opening game with the team. The Celtics have a payroll crunch looming soon, and this move gifts them a cost-controlled player in Jarrett Culver on a buy-low.
Minnesota needs to win-now. The clock is already ticking on Karl-Anthony Towns’ free agency. His return during the Miami series was ugly, but Gordon Hayward quietly put together a very nice 2019-20 regular season (when he was healthy).
He would play well off Towns and be a boom to the second-unit, while also adding adequate defense on the wing – something the Wolves badly need.
