30. Boston Celtics – Vernon Carey Jr., C, Duke

Even after taking Isaiah Stewart just a few picks before 30, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Boston Celtics used this pick to take a chance on another big. Vernon Carey Jr. is too talented to not be taken in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft. Even though he doesn’t exactly fit the mold of the modern big, he has the potential to grow into such a role.

He’ll need to cut weight and prove that he could extend his offensive game to the 3-point line, but he’ll be able to develop in Boston and will have room to do so. The Celtics have done a great job of that over the last few seasons and could be prime to do it again.

It’s almost unfair that a team as talented as the Celtics can land a player like Vernon Carey Jr. with the final pick in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft. It’s simply another case of the rich getting richer.
