Chicago Bulls: 3 keys to success during the 2020 offseason
Continue adding to a young talented core
The Bulls have a nice group of young players to build a foundation for their team as they will be able to add another piece with the fourth overall selection in the 2020 NBA Draft. The latest projections have prospects LaMelo Ball, James Wiseman, and Anthony Edwards going in the top 3 selections, so who is the best prospect after those three players who could fit in with the Bulls’ on-going infusion of youth?
If they decide to draft a defensive player, then Issac Okoro and Onyeka Okongwu would be good fits. If they desire a prospect who is versatile, they should consider Deni Avdija or Obi Toppin. If they want a shooter, then they should give Devin Vassell, Tyrese Haliburton, and Aaron Nesmith some consideration.
Whomever the Bulls decide to draft will become an integral part of their future and should be able to contribute immediately. Coby White, who is only 20 years old, showed flashes of potential last season but must improve his poor shot selection and work on becoming more of a consistent scorer and should assume the starting point guard role.
LaVine has improved every year since he’s been in the league. He is a talented player who has all the tools to lead a team but he needs to step up and become more vocal and assume more of a leadership role. Wendell Carter, only 21 years old, should vastly improve under Donovan and should develop into a legitimate double-double threat.
He is dangerous in the post and is capable of keeping opponents out of the paint with his stellar defense. Markkanen should expect to see more touches and should play a vital role in the Bulls’ offensive scheme. He is very capable of scoring and creating his own shot and should adjust accordingly as he assumes a bigger role.
