NBA Draft Day prediction: The Phoenix Suns still get their point guard for the future at 10th overall
Chris Paul is now a sun after a blockbuster trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder allowed Phoenix to get their Hall of Fame floor general. However, Paul is reaching the end of his max deal at the elderly league age of 35 years old.
Two years from now, he’ll be on the outs in Phoenix, meaning the Suns need to have a young lead guard ready to take the reins when CP3 is gone. Only the Pistons and Knicks are projected to take a point guard in the top 10, meaning the Suns will have a chance to take a young conductor at the draft’s deepest position.
While Tyrese Halliburton and Killian Hayes won’t be there for them to choose, the underrated speedster Kira Lewis Jr. and combo-guard Cole Anthony are solid fallback options. Either present starting-caliber skillsets within their game to be future complements with Devin Booker for the foreseeable future.
