13. New Orleans Pelicans – Tyrese Maxey, G, Kentucky
After trading Jrue Holiday to the Milwaukee Bucks, it would be extremely surprising if the New Orleans Pelicans didn’t target a guard with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. One player that fits the mold would be Tyrese Maxey, a talented guard out of Kentucky.
Maxey is an interesting prospect that has been mocked anywhere from inside the top 10 to outside the top 10. I believe he’ll end up somewhere in the middle but would be in play if the Pelicans aren’t looking for strictly a point guard.
During his freshman season at Kentucky, Maxey averaged 14 points, four rebounds, and three assists on 43 percent shooting from the field. Maxey needs to improve his efficiency, especially shooting the basketball, but would be able to grow with the Pelicans’ young core.
