7. Detroit Pistons – Tyrese Haliburton, G, Iowa State
There was a time during the draft process when Tyrese Haliburton was in contention to be a top 5 pick, and perhaps that still may be on the table, but should the Detroit Pistons land this level of prospect at No. 7, they should be very happy. As somewhat of a combo guard with great size, there is plenty to like about Haliburton’s game.
He’s long, can shoot the 3 effectively, and is a good playmaker. He’ll be able to help facilitate and carry an offense for the Pistons if needed, and could also play off Blake Griffin, if he’s still on the roster when the 2020-21 season begins.
In a breakout season with Iowa State, Haliburton averaged 15 points, seven assists, and six rebounds on 50 percent shooting from the field and 42 percent shooting from 3-point range (on nearly six attempts per contest).
