2020 NBA Draft: 5 biggest draft winners from a busy night
Taking a closer look at the 5 biggest draft winners from a chaotic night
More than four months after it was originally scheduled to take place, the 2020 NBA Draft is officially in the books. On a night that we saw plenty of movement and both expected and unexpected picks, there was certainly theater for everyone involved.
Who were the biggest winners from the chaotic draft night? We explore that with some early predictions on this year’s draft class.
NBA Draft winner: Minnesota Timberwolves
You can’t help but love what the Minnesota Timberwolves did on draft night. It started with taking Anthony Edwards with the No. 1 pick, which helped set the tone for the rest of the night. The Wolves also drafted Leandro Bolmaro and Jaden McDaniels to add to their core, in addition to acquiring Ricky Rubio.
The wolves completely restructured the future of the franchise with three first-round picks and added a veteran point guard that will help this team compete for a playoff spot in the Western Conference this season.
The Wolves didn’t overthink this draft process and now have one of the West’s most talented young trios. If Bolmaro and McDaniels develop as prospects in a year or two, this is a team that will be a problem. At least on paper, for the time being, the Wolves did extremely well on draft night.
