2020 NBA Draft: 5 biggest draft winners from a busy night
NBA Draft winner: Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets have done it again. This is a team that always seems to come through during draft time. Over the last few years, they’ve found hidden gems in Michael Porter Jr. and Bol Bol despite not having high picks. This year, they found two great value selections in Zeke Nnaji and RJ Hampton with the No. 22 and 24 picks, respectively.
Nnaji will help the team’s frontcourt depth as he’s a versatile defender and has shown the ability to stretch defenses with his developing jump shot. Nnaji is just scratching the surface on his potential and could develop into a really good player down the line. The same could be said about RJ Hampton.
Coming out of high school, Hampton was one of the biggest names. After playing a year in New Zealand, that cooled off. Still, with his size, scoring ability, and athleticism, it’s quite perplexing why he wasn’t a top 20 selection.
The Nuggets take full advantage and take another player that could very well be viewed as the steal of the draft in a few seasons. Denver’s draft department should get a ton of credit for its work. They’ve don’t it again.
