Bismack Biyombo

Prediction: Toronto Raptors

Who doesn’t love a reunion?

Bismack Biyombo had his best, and most exciting, season of his career during the 2015-16 season with the Toronto Raptors. Biyombo showcased stellar defense, as well as a passable offense to boot. He was awarded a big payday by the Orlando Magic in the 2016 offseason but was later moved to his original team, the Charlotte Hornets (formerly the Bobcats), in 2018.

Biyombo unfortunately was never going to live up to the big contract he received from the Magic. His minutes were capped in Orlando because of better rotational fits, and injuries plagued him in Charlotte. Circumstances like these can open a path to rejuvenation though – as the Raptors could look to add Bismack to their squad on a fair deal.

Biyombo would be a perfect addition to the Raptors, as the team is looking to bolster their center position with the possibility of losing Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol. Even still, if the two Spaniards stay put, he would be great security in case injuries occur.

Bismack still has juice left in his legs for at least a couple more seasons. His role would be simple on the team – get boards, set screens, bring energy. He could have a great impact on the court if he is around pieces that balance his negatives.

A bonus is that Biyombo already has great relationships with Kyle Lowry, Nick Nurse, and Masai Ujiri, so the transition would be smooth. Being a low maintenance veteran, with characteristics and a mentality that align with Toronto, make signing him a win-win situation.
