Aron Baynes

Prediction: Miami Heat

Aron Baynes, the bruiser from down under, has had some great stints in Detroit, Boston, and most recently, the Phoenix Suns. Like Bismack Biyombo and Tristan Thompson, he is productive in his role and is always reliable. You know what you are getting from Baynes.

Baynes will get you defensive and offensive boards, set massive screens, move the ball, and make the right decisions. He has even added a 3-point shot to his game (tossing up four per contest on 35%) – bringing a smidge more versatility. What is not to love about Baynes?

He has been a sought-after big man for a couple of years now. Constantly proving himself on multiple squads – exemplifying the notion of being a great teammate that will do whatever coaches ask of him. The big man just wants to work hard and win.

On that note. Which recent finals team is full of players that just want to play hard and win?

Oh right, the Miami Heat.

I know what you are thinking – but Miami has three bigs in Bam Adebayo, Kelly Olynyk, and Meyers Leonard already? I believe Miami is wanting to make some moves, which would open a spot for Baynes in the frontcourt.

As we saw in the NBA Finals, the Heat, unfortunately, lost Bam for a couple of games, relied on Olynyk in his place, and completely nixed Leonard from the lineup. He would be perfect insurance if the team succumbed to injuries again.

Baynes would also be a nice complimentary piece to Jimmy Butler in pick-and-roll situations, as well as a space creator for sharpshooters Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro. Most importantly, the way Baynes conducts himself on and off the court is just what the “Heat Culture” prides itself on.
