2020 NBA Draft: Handing out grades to every team in the lottery

4. Chicago Bulls, Patrick Williams

Grade: B+

The first big reach of the draft came from the newly minted Chicago Bulls front office and as SB Nation’s Ricky O’Donnell put it:

"“Reaction if GarPax took Patrick Williams at No. 4: FIRE EVERYONE RIGHT NOW Reaction when Arturas Karnisovas takes Patrick Williams at No. 4: Very cool, can’t wait to see the rest of the vision!”"

It’s a bit tongue-in-cheek, but he’s spot on. It’s a reach to draft a guy at four who didn’t even start for his college team but he comes into the league with a tangible and valuable skill: perimeter defense.

So does the next guy on the list and playing the same position, but the Bulls decided Williams is better, they’re trusting their scouting department and good on them. Only time will tell if they’re right.
