2020 NBA Draft: Handing out grades to every team in the lottery
By Sean Carroll
5. Cleveland Cavaliers, Isaac Okoro
Grade: A+
The Cleveland Cavaliers needed wing depth in a bad way, they needed defensive acumen in a very bad way and they did it through the draft. Awesome. I like this pick for the Cavs and the remaining guards on the board don’t have a projected high enough ceiling to warrant them adding another guard through the draft.
On top of that, they floated some rumors on the night of the draft that they’re interested in Obi Toppin which would’ve clenched a few sphincters in New York as it seems everyone and their kid knew the Knicks wanted Obi.
It would’ve been nice to see them trade down, pick up an asset on the way but maybe they don’t get Okoro if they’re picking at eight and then there’s the issue of wing depth and talent again next season for the Cavs.
I’m liking what’s happening in Cleveland this weekend, there is now a group of young players which could actually go somewhere, let’s see what happens.
