2020 NBA Draft: Handing out grades to every team in the lottery
By Sean Carroll
9. Washington Wizards, Deni Avdija
Grade: A
Deni Avdija was mocked anywhere from three to five originally and he seemed to slip a bit leading up to the draft with concerns over how he’ll stop anybody in the world on defense. Lucky for him, the Wizards were one of the worse defenses in the league and it doesn’t appear like it really matters.
I like the pick from a value sense of the Washington Wizards, picking up a guy who has top-five value, thus the ‘A’ grade, but I’m very interested to see how he plays. Eight teams passed on a guy who was supposed to be higher – is this a big red flag?
Or, perhaps, the Washington Wizards just got incredibly lucky?
