New York Knicks – loser
Notable moves: Drafted Obi Toppin, signed Alec Burks
Mind you, the New York Knicks won’t be considered huge losers of the offseason. That should be considered a net positive. Though, the Knicks weren’t able to land Chris Paul, Gordon Hayward, Fred VanVleet – the big-name free agents/players on the open market that were all linked to the team over the course of the last few months.
They did well in the NBA Draft, which began with them taking Obi Toppin with the No. 8 overall pick but you can’t help but feel a bit underwhelmed with what they have done during the offseason.
The Knicks will have plenty of money to spend still and it’ll be interesting to see if they absorb any contracts via the trade market over the next few days leading up to the start of the 2020-21 season, but it’s been a lackluster offseason for the Knicks thus far.
The good news is that New York has not given out a bad contract during this offseason thus far. That should be considered a silver lining to an otherwise quiet start to the offseason for New York.
