NBA: One thing every team should be thankful for this Thanksgiving
One thing every NBA team should be thankful for this Thanksgiving
The 2020 NBA offseason may look a bit different, but the craziness and chaos is nothing new. Even though the offseason will be simplified into 71 days, there has still been the same amount of storyline and intrigue that you’d expect from a more traditional NBA offseason.
With the 2020 NBA Draft in the books and the free agency period very much underway, we explore one thing that every team in the NBA should be thankful for this Thanksgiving season.
Atlanta Hawks
What to be thankful for: Going all-in on 2021
For the Atlanta Hawks, there is plenty that they had to be thankful for over the last couple of seasons. Much of that revolved around Trae Young. However, now, it appears that the team is finally in a place where they’re going to compete in the Eastern Conference. The Hawks were busy this offseason.
Atlanta added Danilo Gallinari, Rajon Rondo, Clint Capela (last trade deadline), Onyeka Okongwu, and Kris Dunn recently as it appears they’re all-in on making the playoffs in 2021.
Boston Celtics
What to be thankful for: Jayson Tatum’s contract extension
Even though the Boston Celtics lost Gordon Hayward in free agency, and didn’t make many moves apart from adding Tristan Thompson, they did sign Jayson Tatum to a max extension. That, if nothing else, is something the Celtics should be thankful for.
Tatum will be a Celtics for the foreseeable future and is just scratching the surface of the superstar that he can be. As long as Tatum is healthy, Boston will be in contention in the Eastern Conference. Thanks for signing his extension, that appears to be for a very long time.
