What to be thankful for: Billy Donovan choosing their rebuild

Whether you like him as a basketball coach or not, one thing that can’t be disputed is that Billy Donovan is, at the very least, a competent head coach. And probably better than “just competent.” He was successful with the Oklahoma City Thunder and elected to choose the Chicago Bulls to rebuild over OKC’s.

That’s what the Bulls should be thankful for the most. With a solid core of players and an experienced coach in Billy Donovan, there’s a chance that Chicago could make some waves in the Eastern Conference in 2021.

Cleveland Cavaliers

What to be thankful for: A front office that is willing to roll the dice

Say what you want about the Cleveland Cavaliers and their inability to make the playoffs without LeBron James, but at the very least the Cavs have a front office that is willing to roll the dice and experiment. We saw that perfectly on display when the Cavs selected Collin Sexton and Darius Garland in back-to-back drafts and then again when they added Andre Drummond at last year’s NBA Trade Deadline.

The Cavs might be bad again next season, but you can’t say that they aren’t putting up an effort to turn it around.
