Bogdan Bogdanovic is ready to make an impact on the Atlanta Hawks

Top free agent, Bogdan Bogdanovic, is ready to take the next leap in his NBA journey. Positive thought prevails as he should be a big-time contributor for his new team in the Atlanta Hawks.

The Sacramento-Milwaukee sign-and-trade (which included Bogdanovic) ended in a massive collapse. Bogdanovic then looked to other teams – ultimately signing an offer sheet with the Atlanta Hawks for four years, $72 million. The Kings decided not to match, and so Bog Bog is now out of Sacramento and headed to the Hawks.

Crazy how things happen, eh?

More from Sir Charles In Charge

As stated before, Bogdanovic was a highly-touted free agent heading into the 2020 offseason, with multiple teams wanting to secure the guard/forward. Bogdanovic had a steady 2019-20 season in which he averaged 15.1 points, 3.4 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game, while only playing 61 games.

The numbers might not jump off the page, but there were constant showings of stellar playmaking, individual creativity, and tenacious defense. These signs point towards a tantalizing future of great impact on the Hawks.

Bogdan Bogdanovic’s game is catered to making the Atlanta Hawks run smoothly

Bogdan Bogdanovic is ready to make a jump in his individual game. How much of a jump is still in question though. If we rely on trajectory and face value, we can assume that his productivity will rise. I believe being on a new team will ignite a spark to his game. We might end up seeing a singularly inflated 2020-21 season that then levels off in the future. But who would not want to see someone like him have a super flashy stretch of a season or so!?

The biggest indicator we have for his positive impact and trajectory is the roster surrounding him. For how good Bogdanovic is, he still needs to be tethered to good players in order to thrive. His play seemed to be capped while in Sacramento because of the turmoil and style of players that were on the Kings’ squad.

The Hawks’ roster is looking decent with a young core consisting of Trae Young, Kevin Huerter, John Collins, Cam Reddish, and rookie Onyeka Okongwu. Add in veterans Danilo Gallinari, Clint Capela, and, of course, Rajon Rondo and you got yourself some nice pieces. Bogdan himself is fairly young but has a veteran aura that will lend nicely to the team. To top this off, coach Lloyd Pierce should be able to maximize Bogdanovic by placing him in the correct spots of their system.

Bogdanovic will ultimately be the glue guy that makes the Hawks run smoothly this coming season. In some cases, glue guy players are more crucial and have a larger impact than the stars themselves. The little things they do like, making the extra pass, hitting a couple of 3’s each game, and playing solid defense, sometimes go unnoticed but are essential.

The Atlanta Hawks have dreams of making the playoffs, and Bogdan Bogdanovic was the final vital piece to top off their roster. His glue guy characteristics will be crucial if they want this playoff dream to come to fruition.
