NBA Twitter reacts to Nate Robinson’s boxing match over the weekend

Former three-time NBA slam dunk champion Nate Robinson tried his luck in the boxing ring over the Thanksgiving weekend, in an exhibition, against Youtube sensation Jake Paul, and nearly broke the internet as social media reacted to Paul’s brutal knockout of Robinson.

From the onset of round one, it was clear that Robinson had little formal in-ring boxing training, as he sprinted across the ring at Paul in a charging manner to open the fight. It was oddly reminiscent of hitting the sled during football practice. Robinson charging across the ring at Paul became a theme of this comical exhibition, aside from the sheer pummeling delivered by Paul upon his opponents’ noggin on this night.

Almost immediately in the aftermath of Robinson hitting the canvas for the third time, which put him to sleep, social media exploded across the world in response.

Everyone from Snoop Dogg, who was in the role of color analyst for the event, to fans, NBA players, and any other entertainment personalities you can think of chimed in via social media. NBA player reactions are among the best of the bunch, and please believe the jokes and comments were flying in at a rapid pace.

It started with Joel Embiid…

From here the barrage continued…

Nick Young also chimed in…

The joke tweets continued to pour in throughout the evening and while some showed genuine concern for the health and well-being of Robinson, the jokes most certainly outweighed the concern Saturday night regarding the outcome of the bout.

Let’s hope this is the first and last time we have to see Nate, flat on his face inside a ring.
