LiAngelo Ball lands a deal with the Detroit Pistons

Well, he did it. LaVar Ball did what no one thought could or would be done. Ball managed to get middle son LiAngelo Ball a contract with an NBA team.

Lonzo Ball, LaVar’s oldest, will be entering his fourth season in the NBA, his second with the New Orleans Pelicans this season. LaMelo Ball, LaVar’s youngest, was recently drafted by the Charlotte Hornets with the third overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Now let us break this baffling NBA update down.

LiAngelo has signed an ‘Exhibit 10’ contract with the Pistons that will allow him to play the preseason as a tryout before heading to the NBA’s developmental G-league.

"“An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year, minimum salary NBA contract with a specific Exhibit 10 attachment built into it and no other bonuses. These attachments are not present in every NBA contract, only deals in which both parties have agreed to include it.Exhibit 10 attachments allow the NBA team to convert a player’s one-year, minimum contract into a two-way contract but this has to occur prior to the start of the regular season.”For a full breakdown of Exhibit 10 contract details – Larry Coon’s Salary Cap FAQ"

To sum things up, LiAngelo is receiving a prime opportunity in the form of a paid tryout for lack of a better term. Please believe this opportunity he’s been granted stems from brothers Lonzo and LaMelo Ball both being on NBA rosters and both having been top three picks in their respective draft classes.

At worse, LiAngelo will be sent down to the G-league, receive a payday, and continue developing as a player in hopes of one day truly making an NBA roster down the line.

Regardless of whether LiAngelo makes the Pistons roster, as most believe he will not, father LaVar has come through on his 2017 promise to have all three sons on NBA rosters, in the not so distant future. The future is here and maybe this is just another plot thickening twist for the NBA in its storyline for 2020.
