Gordon Hayward signing with the Hornets for $120 million wasn’t the only surprise of the offseason. After shocking the world by beating the LA. Clippers and getting to the Western Conference Finals, it didn’t feel like anything else unexpected would happen.

Jerami Grant, who was a big contributor on the Nuggets run, went to the Detroit Pistons on a deal worth three-years and $60 million. The Nuggets said they offered him the same contract, so they were surprised he opted to play somewhere else.

This move will force the Nuggets to play Michael Porter Jr. more minutes. They were forced to re-sign Paul Millsap, who isn’t the player he was in Atlanta but can still contribute and bring veteran leadership.

While JayMychal Green is an underrated player, he isn’t the defender or athletic player Grant is, and they will miss all the intangibles he brought to the court. The Nuggets also lost rotational player Torrey Craig, who decided to sign with the Bucks.
