Reason No. 3 to believe in the Philadelphia 76ers: Hiring Daryl Morey

The case for Daryl Morey; look at the resume. Houston has been relevant during his entire tenure. Personally, he’ll always hold a special place in my heart for making the harden trade, which may happen again in Philadelphia, but that’s a different article.

If Morey is your general manager, you get a former Executive of the Year. You’ll be ahead of the game in the analytics era, you’ll have a guy who doesn’t make emotional decisions, and you’ll have a guy with reps, and successful reps at that,10 playoff appearances, and two conference finals.

If Morey is your general manager, you never have an “afraid to make a trade” kind of guy or a guy who “never wants to pay their stars” either. The bottom line is, Morey won’t be the problem when formally Elton Brand was. Sure, Morey doesn’t get to the line or lock down your best player, but if he’s in your front office you have an advantage.
