Six favorite O/U bets for the 2020-21 NBA season
The NBA regular season is less than a week away, and teams are ready to kick things into high gear come Christmas time (what a strange 2020). The influx of roster and coaching moves in such a short offseason will undoubtedly impact how the team will perform this season.
A good way to project the season-long performance of teams, other than reading articles from us smart guys, is to look at the team over/under win totals that are set by the sportsbooks.
For those out there not savvy to the sports betting world, an over/under bet is a wager on a total amount for either a particular team, two teams, or a player for a certain period of time (Halves, Games, Season), which are set by the oddsmakers.
Bettors can then wager above or below such a number and see if they can strike it rich with their wisdom. The typical over/under people bet on in pro basketball is the total combined score of both teams for entire games – but another common over/under bet is total wins for a team throughout an entire season.
When it comes to predicting sports performance, bookmakers are pretty darn good at forecasting future records teams and they’ve made it pretty tough for this upcoming 2020-21 season. However, predicting win totals is anything but an exact science, so bookmakers do tend to miss the mark on a few teams. This provides an opportunity for us smart guys to make some big money by proving the books wrong on some teams.
This year’s slate is particularly tough to predict, due to the shortened nature of the season and the fact that they only released the first half of the schedule thus far. Nevertheless, there are some numbers that I think are off. Here are my six favorites (unsolicited) Over/Under Win Total picks for the upcoming season (**Odds via PointsBet on the Action Network).
