LaMelo Ball was extremely impressive against the Mavs

LaMelo Ball set new career-highs on Wednesday night in the Charlotte Hornets’ 118-99 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. Ball scored 22 points and grabbed eight boards, both of which are career highs for the third overall pick. Ball also dropped five dimes, which tied another career-high that he set in the previous game.

Yes, it is just four games into the youngest Ball brothers’ career, but a huge game for him no matter how we look at it.

In the Hornets’ first three games Ball managed to score a combined 19 points, and went scoreless in the season opener, shooting 0-5 from the field and 0-3 from 3-point range. Ball eclipsed all that Wednesday night, going 7-10 on FG’s and 4-5 from 3-point land. Talk about a remarkable turnaround.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

He looked far more comfortable on the court Wednesday night against the Mavs as he created plays for himself and his teammates. He already exudes a certain amount of confidence, but ‘Melo’s’ swag was on full display in Dallas on this night.

Now, one game does not mean Ball is going to win Rookie of the Year and go on to become a perennial All-star or All-NBA player, but this is a good sign for a franchise that has been searching for that star attraction for what feels like decades. LaMelo could be that star player.

His ability and flash on the court, coupled with the potential of father LaVar Ball popping up on TMZ at any given moment with another outrageous quote, this family drama could be the ticket draw the Hornets have been desperately hoping to find.

Add that to the potential for a future game of one-on-one between LaVar and Hornets team Governor Michael Jeffrey Jordan, and this could end up being a match made in box office heaven for all parties.

Next. The Golden State Warriors have looked rather mediocre this season. dark

Regardless of us getting that long-overdue game of one-on-one or not, LaMelo is well on his way to becoming one of the most exciting and highlight-worthy NBA players in recent memory.
