Atlanta Hawks lose Bogdan Bogdanovic as downward spiral continues
It won’t get any easier for the Atlanta Hawks moving forward
Through the first five games of the season, you could make the case that there was no better feel-good story in the Eastern Conference than the Atlanta Hawks. The team was 4-1 through those first five games and were coming off an impressive 18-point victory over the Brooklyn Nets.
However, since that hot five-game start, the Hawks have lost four games in a row including back-to-back-to-back losses to the New York Knicks and Charlotte Hornets (twice).
Their on-the-court struggles are expected to get even more difficult after it was announced that Bogdan Bogdanovic is expected to miss time due to a knee injury. The team categorized the injury as a fractured knee and he’s now listed as out indefinitely.

It’s difficult – and nearly impossible (I’m not a doctor, nor do I want to pretend to be one) – to predict how much time Bogdanovic is going to miss with this injury. Though, you’d expect that it’s going to be at least a while before we see him back in the lineup for the Hawks.
Bogdanovic was one of Atlanta’s prized offseason signings and was averaging 10 points and four rebounds on 36 percent shooting from 3-point range off the bench, on most nights, to start the season. He was still finding his role with the team but was no question part of the reason why the Hawks got off to such a fast start to the season.
It’ll be interesting to see what type of impact his injury will have on the team and how long it will take for this team to right the ship as they continue down this unfortunate downward spiral. Though, there’s no question that the injury to Bogdanovic won’t help their efforts.
The Atlanta Hawks need to find a way to get back on the winning side of things, and their schedule doesn’t help them any as they’re slated to face off against four projected playoff teams over the course of the next week.
Atlanta and their early success was a good story to start the season, but this is a team that needs to get right and get right fast. They have the talent to be a playoff team – and a dangerous one at that – in the East. Can they figure it out?
