Utah Jazz takeaway: Bogey doesn’t look right

The Utah jazz need Bojan Bogdanovic to play well in order to reach their potential, and bogey looks nothing like he did last year. Bogdanovic missed the Orlando bubble with a thumb injury and may have come back too soon from surgery. Last year he averaged over 20 points a game while shooting 44 percent from the field and 41 percent from 3.

Through the 1st 11 games, Bogdanovic is only averaging 12 points a game, shooting 37 percent from the field at 35 percent from 3.

Some of this could be due to his age (he turned 33 recently) but I think a lot of it is adjusting back from injury. Shooting requires touch and feel it seems that recovery from his thumb injury might have messed with his shooting stroke.

The other thing that might be driving this is the opponent’s defensive schemes. Teams are no longer letting lock down of it you get that in transaction 3-point shot then savvy defenders are hugging him around the yard so he’s not getting his many wide open looks as he’s used to.

However, things could be trending up for Bogdanovic, who had a 28-point outing against the Spurs and an efficient 20 points against Cleveland Cavaliers. If the Jazz continue to move the ball well create a lot of action, Bogdanovic is going to get those open looks on the corner and above the break. Jazz fans ought to not worry – He’ll should find his form with more minutes on the court.
