Brooklyn Nets’ free-agent target: Emmanuel Mudiay
Emmanuel Mudiay was projected to become one of the better point guards in the NBA. After a solid rookie season with the Denver Nuggets, the emergence of Jamal Murray led to a decrease in playing time led to Mudiay becoming an afterthought and expendable. He was traded to the New York Knicks, which was a wasteland at the time.
The opportunity surprisingly led to a career revival from Mudiay. He started to find himself offensively in New York, averaging the highest scoring total of his career, all while outplaying newly acquired Dennis Smith Jr.
He signed with the Utah Jazz for the 2019-20 season but remains unsigned this year. Beyond James Harden and Kyrie Irving, there aren’t many ball handlers. The loss of Spencer Dinwiddie hasn’t been addressed, and a guy like Mudiay could fit here. Come in, play defense and mistake-free basketball and he may just have a role. A return to New York wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
