Remembering Kobe Bryant, one year after his tragic passing
By Alex Mcewen
Winning championships in any sport are hard, and the first one is always the hardest. For Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, and their Lakers the stars aligned and the original dynamic duo captured their first of many titles together 21 years ago in the year 2000.
Local university teacher and Sports Animal radio host Bobby Thompson shared his view from this match from the Black Mamba:
"Game 4 of the 2000 NBA finals. OT vs Indiana. Shaq had fouled out and it was up to young Kobe Bryant. He scored 28 points including 6 cold-blooded points in OT to win the game and help the Lakers to his first title."
Unfortunately, the success did not last and the duo split up, more on that topic on the next slide.
